Hello Moab Nonprofits!
We’re excited to announce that we are in the process of launching a new Artist in Residence program at WabiSabi. Artists will be required to host one free community art workshop and to make one piece of art that will stay at WabiSabi or a partnering organization. Beyond that, they can focus on their own work as long as it ties in themes of upcycling, waste, creative reuse, etc. So far, we’ve had one amazing visiting artist who has used recycled metal material to craft a bike rack for the front of our store!
- Primary focus is upcycled art
- Must create something to stay at WabiSabi
- Must do a project for a partnering organization
Can you think of an artistic project that might benefit your organization? Artists will be encouraged to work with one of our partnering organizations (not just limited to the NPP program) either as a small side component of their residency or as the majority, depending on the project. We will compile the information you give to us and provide a list of potential projects for applicants to consider. Artists will primarily be working within the context of creative reuse and upcycling, but this doesn’t have to determine the nature of your request!
Please let me know who to contact from your organization should an artist feel drawn to your particular project or mission.
In addition, we’d love to know what your organization might be able to offer, whether it’s a meal here and there or a place to stay! We’re fine-tuning many aspects of the program and are still working to find a long-term housing option for artist residents, so in the meantime anything helps!
Thank you so much for participating in this process—we’re so excited to see more art in our nonprofit community!
